Alice & Cécile présent ALL YOU NEED IS A SONG

The first album of two young twin sisters, released under the DJAZ Records label
A 1-hour-and-30-minute show, from three to seven performers on stage.

With their undeniable charm and their deceptively “Young Girls of Rochefort”-like appearance (in reference to the 1960s film composer Michel Legrand), the two young singers reinvent a French-style vocal jazz which combines, with both lightness and voluptuousness, jazz standards and French or international songs, swing and cleverness of the lyrics, flavours of Brazilian music and cross chord adaptations.

The day when jazz and popular music met, jazz became brilliant and popular music regained its quality. Patrick Saussois, JAZZ HOT avril 2007

Alice & Cécile and Alain Jean-Marie TRIO

Alain Jean-Marie was born in 1945, in Pointe-à-Pitre. He is widely regarded as representing today’s beguine jazz music and is hailed as one of the best jazz pianist on the international scene. Rapidly recognised as a choice partner, he has accompanied leading artists such as Chet BAKER, Dee Dee BRIDGEWATER, Sarah LAZARUS, Abbey LINCOLN, etc. 1992 was the year when the musician released his album Biguine Reflections inspired by both his West Indian origins and his bebop culture which he blended into quite a successful beguine/jazz marriage. In 1999, Alain JEAN-MARIE recorded Afterblue. He has been awarded the Boris Vian prize from the Jazz Academy (best French jazz album, 1999), as well as the Django d'Or prize (best French jazz musician, 2000).

Alice & Cécile on a FRENCH MUSIC show
A 1-hour performance - 2 guitars - 2 voices

Alice & Cécile have designed their own French music show on the occasion of their participation in the international Chant’Appart Festival in 2008 and in 2009. They revisit great French composers and music artists like Mimie PERRIN, Jean SABLON, Gilbert LAFAILLE, Henri SALVADOR, Claude NOUGARO, Léo FERRÉ, Serge GAINSBOURG, etc.

Alice & Cécile harmonise themselves in unison, in counterpoint or in canon, skilfully mingling their two voices into a third one. FRANCE 3 Pays de la Loire 2007.
